Marianieves Vasquez Killed, Sergio Villegas and Kerry Williams Injured in Gaines County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 62 near CR 341

Gaines County, Texas – One person was killed and three others were injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash in Gaines County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened just before 7:30 p.m., January 24, on US 62 near CR 341.

DPS said a Toyota Tacoma and a Chevy Silverado were traveling eastbound on the highway when the Tacoma rear-ended the Silverado.

The impact caused the Silverado to run off the roadway and roll into a ditch.

A passenger in the Silverado, 45-year-old Marianieves Leon Vasquez of Seminole, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Silverado driver, Sergio Villegas, 47, of Seminole, was taken to Covenant Health in Hobbs for treatment.

Another passenger in the Silverado, a 15-year-old boy from Seminole, was taken to UMC in Lubbock with serious injuries.

The Toyota driver, Kerry Williams, of Hobbs, was taken to Covenant in Hobbs for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
