Man, Dog Killed in Head-On Crash on Texas 249 in Magnolia

Man Killed, 1 Critically Injured in Magnolia Crash on Texas 249 and FM 1488

Magnolia, Texas (December 6, 2022) – A 53-year-old man and his pit bull were killed in a head-on collision with a pickup near Magnolia on Monday evening, according to a local news source.

The deadly crash happened at around 5:45 p.m. Monday, December 5, on Texas 249 and FM 1488.

As per the local news report, a Dodge pickup was heading southbound on Texas 249 when it veered off the road and crashed through a wire barrier between the northbound and southbound lanes.

The Dodge pickup then collided head-on with a Nissan van in the northbound lanes of the freeway. The Dodge pickup also hit a Chevrolet pickup that was exiting the freeway at FM 1488.

The driver of the Nissan and his dog died in the crash. The driver of the Dodge pickup was transported to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition.

The driver and passenger in the Chevrolet pickup were not injured.

Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the collision.
