Mayra Santos, Alexandra Martinez and Kristian Rocha Killed in Encinal Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 35

Encinal, Texas (March 8, 2023) – According to the Texas DPS, three people were killed early Saturday morning in a head-on collision in Encinal, La Salle County.

The fatal crash happened around 5:49 a.m., March 4, on Interstate 35 at mile marker 38.

DPS said a white 2013 Ford Taurus was traveling southbound while a white 2023 Kia K5 was traveling northbound.

The Ford failed to drive in a single lane, crossed over the grassy center lane with no barriers, and crashed head-on with the Kia.

The Ford then overturned before catching fire in the northbound lane.

The Ford driver, Kristian Rocha, 26, from Mission, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the Kia, Mayra Santos, 33, and Alexandra Martinez, 30, both from Laredo, were also killed in the crash.

Santos was a federal law enforcement officer.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
