Michael Christenson Killed in Hunt County Motorcycle Crash on FM 499 and SH 24

Hunt County, Texas (November 24, 2021) – One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Hunt County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 2:05 p.m., November 20, at the intersection of FM 499 and State Highway 24, about 2.6 miles northeast of Campbell.

DPS said a Chevy Silverado was traveling eastbound on FM 499 while a Harley-Davidson was traveling northbound on State Highway 24.

The Chevy pick-up failed to yield right of way and was struck on the passenger’s side by the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, Michael Christenson, 64, of Sachse, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A charge of failure to yield the right of way has been filed against the pickup truck driver, an Anna resident.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
