Nehemias Trevino, Crystal Taylor-Williams Seriously Injured in Potter County Crash on FM 1061 near Saddleback Road

Potter County, Texas (August 12, 2022) – One person was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a fiery traffic collision Thursday morning in Potter County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly crash happened at about 9:40 a.m. Thursday, August 11, on Farm-to-Market Road 1061 near Saddleback Road.

The DPS said a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling southbound on FM 1061 when it veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a northbound U-Haul box truck hauling a passenger car on a dolly trailer.

A pickup truck was traveling northbound and rear-ended the U-Haul. The truck tractor, U-Haul and pickup truck caught fire after the crash.

The driver of the U-Haul, Sonny Reynolds, 51, of Panama City, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck tractor, Nehemias Trevino, 29, of Amarillo, was airlifted to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, Crystal Taylor-Williams, 51, of Panama City, Florida, was taken by land ambulance to the same hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities temporarily blocked all lanes of FM 1061 as they investigated the crash.

No further details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
