Oscar Valdez Killed in North Austin Pedestrian Accident on Research Boulevard

Austin, Texas (January 23, 2022) – The man who was killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident in North Austin has been identified as Oscar Carreon Valdez, 35, according to the police.

The deadly accident occurred around 1:53 a.m., in the 8000 block of Research Boulevard near Lamar Boulevard.

Police said Valdez was inspecting his vehicle after a previous crash when he was struck by a gray Mercedes-Benz.

Valdez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz fled the scene after the accident.

The Mercedes-Benz will have damage to the front passenger side and a missing passenger-side mirror.
