Patrick Tedford Killed in Northeast El Paso Pedestrian Accident on Gateway South Boulevard

El Paso, Texas (July 9, 2020) – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in northeast El Paso, according to police.

The deadly accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on July 7, in the 11300 block of Gateway South Boulevard.

Police said 65-year-old Patrick Tedford of Alamogordo, New Mexico, was driving a Ford F-250 towing a 5th wheel, southbound when he was alerted by another driver that an item was hanging from his bumper.

Tedford stopped his vehicle in a traffic lane and exited to inspect the issue.

18-year-old Jayden Martin was driving a Toyota Corolla and crashed into the Ford, pinning Tedford between the Corolla and the 5th wheel.

Tedford was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Martin was taken to UMC in stable condition.

Tedford’s passenger was uninjured in the crash.

Officers said inattention was a factor in the crash.

An investigation is underway.
