Man Dies in Austin Train Accident on Airport Boulevard and E. 51st Street

Austin, Texas (March 16, 2019) – A person was fatally hit by a CapMetro train late Friday night in Austin, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS.
The crash occurred shortly before midnight on Friday, March 15 at Airport Boulevard and E. 51st Street.
It’s unclear whether the man was walking along or trying to cross the tracks when he was hit.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one on the train was injured, CapMetro issued buses to transport passengers who were affected by the closures of the MetroRail.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
