Houston, Texas – A pedestrian was fatally hit by an off-duty Houston Police Department supervisor early Thursday morning in Houston, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened on the 610 West Loop at Katy Freeway.

Authorities said the supervisor was heading home from the night shift and was driving northbound when they struck a pedestrian who was running across the freeway.

The pedestrian was killed in the crash. Their identity has not been released.

Moments later, an SUV with two people inside crashed into the officers’ patrol vehicle. They did not suffer any injuries.

The officer will be placed on administrative leave, per protocol. 

An investigation into the crash is underway.
