Rene Carrillo Mata ID’d as Man Killed in Midland County Crash at Highway 349 and East County Road 140

Midland County, Texas (July 6, 2019) –  Rene Carrillo Mata, 26, of Midland, has been identified as the man who was killed Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Midland County.

The deadly accident was reported at about 6:25 a.m. Friday, July 5 in the area of Highway 349 and East County Road 140.

According to a statement released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, a GMC pickup was turning onto County Road 140 when its driver failed to yield the right of way to a Dodge Ram. Both vehicles then collided.

Mata, who was a passenger in the GMC pickup, was declared dead at the scene.

The GMC driver, Ismael Saldana, was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital while the driver of the Dodge Ram, William Irvin, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital.

Three passengers in Irvin’s vehicle, Casey Stutts, William Evans and Devin Eldridge, were also transported to Midland Memorial Hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
