Rhonda Clay Killed in Channelview Train Crash at Sheldon Road and Highway 90; Brittinie Green Charged

Channelview, Texas (November 26, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was injured in a train crash Wednesday evening in Channelview, according to deputies.

The fatal crash happened around 5:00 p.m., November 25, at Sheldon Road and Highway 90.

Deputies said Brittinie Green was driving a BMW X3 northbound on Sheldon Road when she went into the southbound lanes and drove around two vehicles that were stopped for railroad crossing arms.

The BMW was then struck by a westbound Amtrak Sunset Limited Train 1.

The train was on its way from New Orleans to Los Angeles.

Rhonda Clay, who was a passenger in the BMW, was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Green was airlifted to Memorial Hermann. She has been charged with manslaughter.

The 45 passengers and crew members on board the train were uninjured.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
