Robert Newman and John Jarchow Injured in Grayson County Pedestrian Accident on Cooks Corner Road near Pottsboro

Grayson County, Texas (February 14, 2023) – Robert Newman, 59, and John Jarchow, 63, were injured after they were struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon in Grayson County, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash took place on Cooks Corner Road, just west of Pottsboro, on Saturday, February 11.

DPS said Rhonda Lucas, 57, of Ardmore, was driving his vehicle southbound on Cooks Corner Road when she allowed the vehicle to drift off the road and hit two pedestrians, now identified as Newman and Jarchow.

Newman was flown to Baylor Scott & White in McKinney with serious injuries, and Jarchow was taken to TMC in Denison with serious injuries.

Lucas failed to stop and render aid and left the scene. She was later arrested and booked into the Grayson County Jail and charged with two counts of failing to stop and render aid causing serious bodily injury and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

DPS is investigating the crash.
