Roberto Ornelas Jr. Killed in Sterling City Car Crash on SH 158

Sterling City, Texas (July 10, 2019) – A man was killed Sunday morning in a head-on collision near Sterling City, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash took place around 10:30 a.m. July 7, on SH 158.

DPS said Roberto Ornelas Jr., 26, of San Angelo, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet pickup eastbound on the highway. He departed the outside westbound lane and crossed into the eastbound lanes of traffic where he crashed head-on into an 18-wheeler, a 2013 Peterbilt towing a semi-trailer, in the outside eastbound lanes.

Ornelas was killed in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
