Roy Collard and Isaiah Gibson Injured in Campbell Crash at FM 2736 and Highway 24

Campbell, Texas (January 29, 2023) – Roy Collard, 62, and Isaiah Gibson, 18, both of Commerce, were injured after they were involved in a deadly crash on Thursday evening north of Campbell, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened at around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, January 26, at the intersection of FM 2736 and Highway 24.

DPS said a 2019 Honda Civic, driven by Collard, was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of FM 2736 and Highway 24, facing eastbound, while a 2021 Kia Rio, driven by Gibson, was traveling southbound on Highway 24 on the left lane.

Collard told authorities that he did not see the oncoming Kia as he entered the intersection. The Honda Civic eventually struck the left rear of the Kia.

Due to the impact of the collision, the Civic veered into the center median. The Kia spun around and came to a rest on Highway 24, facing northeast.

Aubrey Sills, 82, of Commerce, who was a passenger in the Civic, was transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Collard and Gibson each sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash. All of the occupants in the vehicles were wearing seat belts.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
