Sahil Sharma, Maria Soto, and Christopher Winchester Injured in Orange Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10

Orange, Texas (November 1, 2021) – Three people were injured Sunday afternoon in a fiery multi-vehicle crash in Orange, according to the deputies.

The fatal crash happened around 2:00 p.m., October 31, on Interstate 10.

Deputies said a 2018 Freightliner commercial vehicle was traveling eastbound on the interstate when it approached an uneven part of the road. After crossing that uneven part, the driver braked, went into a skid, crossed into the left lane, and struck a four-door sedan. A 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle approaching the crash attempted to stop, lost control, and crashed.

All three vehicles caught fire after the crash.

The Freightliner driver, Sahil Sharma, 27 of Woodbury, N.J., the sedan driver, Maria Soto, 43 of Metairie, La., and the motorcyclist, Christopher Winchester, 42 of Alexandria, La., were taken to the CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash closed Interstate 10 eastbound for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
