Maria Reyes Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 183 in Austin

Maria Reyes ID’d as Woman Killed in Austin Crash on Highway 183 and Hunters Chase Drive

Austin, Texas (July 11, 2023) – The woman who died following a traffic accident last month in Austin has been identified as 43-year-old Maria Casillas Reyes.

The deadly crash happened at around 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, in the northbound lane of the 13000 block of Hwy 183 in Northwest Austin, near the Hunters Chase Dr. intersection.

Authorities said the crash involved an on-duty officer in a marked patrol unit and another vehicle driven by Reyes.

Reyes died at the scene.  APD officer Alyssa Preuss was transported to a local hospital.

Vehicular Homicide and Internal Affairs units are investigating the crash. Anyone with information is urged to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide unit at 512-974-8111.
