San Benito Man Killed in Car Crash on State Highway 4 in Cameron County

36-Year-Old Man Killed in Cameron County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 4

Cameron County, Texas (June 8, 2020) – A San Benito man was killed Sunday morning in a rear-end collision in Cameron County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened at about 4:18 a.m. June 7, on State Highway 4 near Lyndon B Johnson Boulevard.

DPS said a gray truck tractor semi-trailer was reversing onto a grass portion off the highway when it was rear-ended by a westbound white GMC Sierra pickup truck.

The GMC driver, a 36-year-old San Benito man, was declared dead at the scene.

Four female passengers in the GMC were taken to Valley Baptist Hospital in Brownsville and Harlingen.

The crash remains under investigation.
