Santiago Goytia Killed in El Paso County Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 10

El Paso, Texas (May 18, 2021) – One person was killed and another was seriously injured Saturday morning in a pedestrian accident in El Paso County, according to officials.

The deadly accident happened just before 2:00 a.m., May 15, on Interstate 10 between Anthony and Vinton.

Officials said an SUV was traveling westbound on the interstate when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete barrier.

Two people in the SUV exited the vehicle and were waiting for the first responders when debris from the crash caused a second single-vehicle crash.

The two occupants from the SUV were struck by the second vehicle. One of them, Santiago Goytia, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident closed the westbound lanes of I-10 West at Anthony.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws or statutes which were violated.
