Sara Jo Gamond Killed in North Austin 18-Wheeler Crash on Interstate 35

Austin, Texas – One person was killed Saturday morning in an 18-wheeler crash in North Austin, according to officials.

The fatal crash happened around 5:50 a.m., on northbound Interstate 35 between Rundberg Lane and U.S. Highway 183.

Officials said an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck were involved in the crash. 

The pickup driver, Sara Jo Gamond, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The 18-wheeler driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The crash closed all the northbound lanes of the interstate near Rutherford Lane.

The crash remains under investigation.
