Wheeler County, Texas (April 21, 2021) – A man was killed, and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle Monday afternoon in Wheeler County near Shamrock, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:30 p.m., April 19, at the intersection of FM 1906 and County Road 19.

DPS said Robert Miles, 61, of Shamrock, was riding a 1995 Harley Davidson Motorcycle northbound while a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling eastbound on FM 1906.

Miles failed to yield the right of way to the Hyundai, resulting in a collision.

The force of the impact caused the Hyundai to roll over onto its roof and into the northbound ditch alongside the motorcycle.

Miles was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hyundai driver, Shana Reeves, 36, was taken to Parkview Hospital in Wheeler with serious injuries.

One of the three passengers in the Hyundai, Kiera Hurtaell, 18, was also taken to Parkview Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other two passengers, a 15-year-old boy, and a 10-year-old boy were uninjured in the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
