Shawn West Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 35

Austin, Texas (August 21, 2020) – The man who was killed in a pedestrian accident in April in North Austin has been identified as 58-year-old Shawn West, according to police.

The deadly accident happened around 10:31 p.m., April 20, in the 7800 block of N. Interstate 35.

Police said West was walking with an acquaintance when he was hit by a black 2014 F-150 truck.

West was pronounced dead at the scene. His acquaintance was uninjured in the crash.

The truck driver remained at the scene after the accident.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-6873. Tips can be submitted by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.
