Two Injured in Harris County Two-Vehicle Crash on North Freeway (I-45) near Richey Road

Harris County, Texas (June 20, 2020) – Two people were seriously injured Friday night in a rollover crash in Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened shortly after 11:00 p.m. June 19, in the northbound lanes of the North Freeway (I-45) near Richey Road.

According to a preliminary investigation, a Jeep rear-ended another vehicle on the freeway. The force of the impact caused the Jeep to roll over several times.

Two people in the Jeep, including a woman, sustained serious injuries in the crash. An off-duty HPD officer stopped to help the victims after seeing the crash. The officer applied a tourniquet to the woman before paramedics arrived.

The woman was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries to her arm. The other victim was taken by an ambulance to a local hospital.

The two people in the other vehicle, a man and a young child, were uninjured in the crash.

Investigators said alcohol and speed were possible factors in the crash,

The crash closed the northbound lanes of the freeway near Richey for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
