Vitalia Soto and Gilbert Jorgenson Injured in Fatal El Paso Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10

El Paso, Texas (August 21, 2021) – According to the police, one person was killed, and two others were injured Wednesday night in a three-vehicle crash in El Paso.

The fatal crash happened around 9:15 p.m., August 18, on Interstate 10 East, near Hawkins Boulevard.

Police said a 2005 Hyundai Elantra driven by Guadalupe Ruben Ramos Leyva, 67, was slowing down due to traffic on the interstate when it was rear-ended by a 2019 Subaru Outback driven by Vitalia Soto, 37.

The impact caused the Elantra to rear-end a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 39-year-old Gilbert Jorgenson.

Ramos Leyva, Soto, and Jorgenson were taken to the hospital, where Ramos Leyva later died.

Alcohol and speed on the part of Soto were believed to have been contributing factors in the crash. Charges against him are pending.

The police are investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.
