Woman Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident on SH 71 near Y at Oak Hill

Austin, Texas (December 20, 2019) – A woman was fatally hit by a vehicle Thursday morning in southwest Austin, according to the police.

The deadly accident took place around 6:52 a.m. December 19, at the Valero gas station at 7622 West State Highway 71 near the Y at Oak Hill at the intersection of Hill Meadow Drive and Fletcher Lane.

Police said the woman was attempting to cross the highway in a poorly-lit area with no crosswalk when she was hit by a westbound vehicle in the outside lane.

The woman was killed in the crash. Her name has not been disclosed.

The involved driver remained at the scene after the accident. They were not impaired at the time of the crash.

An investigation is underway.
