Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash at Washington Street and Wolflin Avenue in Amarillo

1 Killed and 2 Injured in Amarillo Two-Vehicle Crash at Washington Street and Wolflin Avenue

Amarillo, Texas (June 22, 2020) – A woman was killed, and two other people were injured early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Amarillo, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 1:41 a.m., June 21, at the intersection of Washington Street and Wolflin Avenue.

Police said a 41-year-old woman was driving a 2016 Hyundai Elantra southbound on Washington Street when she hit a 2008 Mazda 3 that was turning northbound from Wolflin Avenue.

The force of the impact ejected a 35-year-old female passenger from the Mazda. She was rushed to a local hospital where she later died.

A 19-year-old woman in the Mazda was also taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Mazda driver left the scene before the investigation was complete.

The Hyundai driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said alcohol and no seat belts were factors in the crash.

The Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department is investigating the crash.
