One Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Katy Freeway at Central Park West

Houston, Texas (December 19, 2021) – One person was killed early Saturday morning in a rear-end crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 2:45 a.m., December 18, at Katy Freeway and Central Park West.

Police said an 18-wheeler was stopped in the moving right lane of the outbound feeder of Katy Freeway and had its flashers on. A man was driving a car in that lane at a high rate of speed and rear-ended the trailer, sending the car underneath it.

The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Officers said the 18-wheeler driver said he was tired and pulled over to get some rest but where he stopped is not a legal place to stop.

No other details were available.

The police are investigating the crash.
