Two Killed and One Injured in Austin Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 71

Austin, Texas (January 19, 2020) – Two people were killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Austin, according to officials.

The fatal crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of East Highway 71 westbound, near Richards Drive.

Officials said two vehicles collided for unknown reasons on the highway.

A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man in his 20s was trapped in one of the vehicles and had to be extricated. He was then airlifted to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

No further details were provided.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
