2 Killed in Hale County Crash at U.S. Highway 70 and Sun Road

Hale County, Texas (June 12, 2019) – Two people were killed Monday afternoon in a traffic accident in Hale County, according to a local news source.

The deadly crash happened at about 3:15 p.m. Monday, June 10 near the intersection of US Highway 70 and Sun Road.

As per the report, a semi-truck was traveling down the roadway when its trailer became detached.  The detached trailer crossed over the center lane and collided head-on with a passenger vehicle.

Firefighters along with paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the three people using the Jaws of Life.  Two of the occupants of the vehicle were transported to Covenant Hospital in unknown condition. A third person was taken to University Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

According to authorities, two parties involved in the accident succumbed to their injuries. The identities of the victims have not yet disclosed.

The crash remains under investigation.
