2 Teen Sisters Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on U.S. 84 in Hockley County

18-Year-Old, 16-Year-Old Girls Killed in Hockley County Car Accident on U.S. 84

Hockley County, Texas (August 9, 2019) – Two teen sisters were killed Wednesday night in a traffic accident involving a wrong-way motorist in Hockley County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash occurred on US 84 near mile marker 294 Wednesday, August 7.

The DPS said Jasmine Burman, 28, of San Angelo, was driving on the wrong side of the road when her SUV collided head-on with another car. A third vehicle hauling utility trailer slammed into the rear of vehicles.

Two teen sisters, whose names have not been disclosed, were in the car. The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene while the  16-year-old was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Both were from Amherst.

The driver of the vehicle that was towing the trailer was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
