23-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Freeway; Asdenys De Armas-Perez Arrested

Houston, Texas (August 19, 2023) – A man was killed early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 12:55 a.m., August 13, in the 1400 block of Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59).

Police said the man was changing a tire on a vehicle on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes of the freeway when he was struck by a gray Pontiac G6 driven by Asdenys De Armas-Perez, 40.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

De Armas-Perez showed signs of impairment and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. After being released from the hospital, he was taken to the Harris County Jail. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The police are investigating the crash.
