5 Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 83 in Zapata County

Five Injured in Zapata County Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 83

Zapata County, Texas (November 11, 2023) – Five people were injured early Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Zapata County, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash happened around 5:00 a.m., November 10, on Highway 83 near mile marker 746.

DPS said a white Ford pick-up truck was traveling southbound when the driver lost control, crossed into the northbound lane, and struck a red Ford pick-up truck. Moments later, a southbound gray Toyota SUV struck the white Ford pick-up truck.

The SUV was occupied by an elderly couple, the White Ford was being driven by a man in his 30s, and the Red Ford was being occupied by a man in his 40s and another man.

The driver of the white Ford was taken to a San Antonio Hospital in critical condition with head trauma. The passenger of the red Ford refused transportation. All the other involved individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
