Amanda Tamez Killed in Car Crash on SH 44 in Jim Wells County

Amanda Tamez Killed in Jim Wells County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 44

Jim Wells County, Texas (December 11, 2022) – A woman was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Jim Wells County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 11:16 a.m., December 10, on State Highway 44.

DPS said a black Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on the main street crossover and ran a stop sign while trying to head eastbound on SH 359. It was then hit on the driver’s side by an eastbound white Dodge Charger.

The Toyota driver was airlifted to Christus Spohn Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Toyota, 48-year-old Amanda Tamez of Houston, was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital in Alice, where she was pronounced dead. 

The troopers are investigating the crash.
