6 Hurt in 2-Vehicle Crash on Winters Freeway in Abilene

Six People Injured in Abilene Crash on Winters Freeway near Ambler Avenue Off-Ramp
Abilene, Texas (February 12, 2019) – Six people were injured in a traffic accident Monday morning in Abilene, according to a local news source.
The crash occurred at about 8:00 a.m. Monday, February 11 in the northbound lanes of Winters Freeway near Ambler Avenue exit.
Police said a vehicle was heading southbound down Winters Freeway when for an unknown reason it drifted into the northbound lanes, where it collided head-on with another vehicle.
The force of the impact caused one vehicle to land on top of the other.
Firefighters responded to the scene and used the jaws of life to extricate several people from at least one vehicle.
A total of six people were injured in the crash. The names of the patients and their condition were not immediately disclosed.
Winters Freeway was shut down as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
No other details were immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
