73-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Bicycle Accident on Elgin Street at Texas Spur 5

Houston, Texas (April 20, 2021) – A 73-year-old man was killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Houston, according to police.

The deadly accident occurred around 8:00 a.m., April 18, in the 4400 block of Elgin Street at the intersection of Texas Spur 5.

Police said the man was riding a blue Scorpion Velotechnik bicycle northbound in the 4600 block of Texas Spur 5 and was entering the intersection when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Elgin Street.

The vehicle fled the scene after the accident.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The police are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver or the vehicle is asked to call the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
