Alexander Woods Killed, Becky Browning and Wayne Whitworth Seriously Injured in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on Hwy 64 and CR 1154

Smith County, Texas (May 13, 2022) – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision in Smith County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on May 12, on Highway 64 W and County Road 1154.

DPS said Alexander N. Woods, 31, of Tyler, was driving a 1995 Toyota Tacoma westbound on the highway while Becky E. Browning, 57, of Irving, was driving a white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound.

For unknown reasons, the Tacoma crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into the Silverado.

Woods was pronounced dead at the scene.

Browning and her passenger, Wayne D. Whitworth, 56, of Ben Wheeler, were taken to a Tyler hospital in serious condition.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
