Bailey Chisum and Suzie Hembree Killed in Carson County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 207

Carson County, Texas (October 3, 2021) – Two people were killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Carson County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 3:30 p.m., October 1, on State Highway 207, 10 miles north of Panhandle.

DPS said Bailey Chisum, 18, of Borger, was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion northbound on the highway while Suzie Hembree, 47, of Seymour, was driving a 2019 Honda Civic southbound.

Chisum was driving at an unsafe speed for the wet road conditions. She lost control of her vehicle, entered into a side skid to the right, and traveled into the southbound lane where the Fusion was hit by the Civic.

Chisum was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hembree was airlifted to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
