Jose Rodriguez Jr., Killed, Dellania Coakwell Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on I-35 near Jarrell

Jose Rodriguez Jr., Killed and Dellania Coakwell Injured in Jarrell Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 35 

Jarrell, Texas (June 22, 2020) – The man who was killed early Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash about five miles south of Jarrell, has been identified as Jose Rodriguez Jr., 27, according to a Texas DPS report.

The fatal crash happened around 5:12 a.m. June 19, on Interstate 35 near Jarrell.

According to the report, Rodriguez was driving a Volkswagen Jetta southbound in the right lane of the freeway when he rear-ended an 18-wheeler. He then veered left and struck a center barricade.

Dellania Coakwell, 43 of Waco, was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser southbound in the left lane of the freeway and hit the Volkswagen. Coakwell then veered to the right and hit a guardrail.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coakwell was taken to a Temple hospital where he was treated and released.

The crash remains under investigation.
