Bicyclist Struck, Killed by Vehicle on Deer Valley Drive in Carlsbad

14-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Carlsbad Crash on Deer Valley Drive

Carlsbad, Texas (August 28, 2023) – A 14-year-old bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle in Carlsbad on Monday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly accident occurred on Deer Valley Drive.

DPS said a 2023 Hyundai Elantra was heading eastbound on Deer Valley Drive when a bicycle equipped with a fuel-powered engine exited a private drive onto Deer Valley Drive.

The Hyundai Elantra reportedly rear-ended the bicyclist.

The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

The 38-year-old driver of the Hyundai Elantra did not suffer any injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
