Brenda Adams, Theresa Madsen and Carol Megara Injured in Fredericksburg Pedestrian Accident on East Main Street
Fredericksburg, Texas (March 6, 2020) – Three women were injured in a pedestrian accident Thursday afternoon in downtown Fredericksburg, according to the police.
The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. March 5, in the 100 block of East Main Street, which is a popular spot for tourists.
Police said Curtis Seelig, 86, of Buchanan Dam, was trying to leave a parking spot into the traffic lanes. As Seelig was backing up, he was alerted to a vehicle behind him, and he pulled back forward into the parking space.
Seelig accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, and his 2019 white Chrysler Pacifica traveled almost 197 feet eastbound down the sidewalk where it hit three women who were on the sidewalk.
One of the women, Carol Megara, 67, of Georgetown, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin.
The other two women, Brenda Adams, 67, of Orange, California, and Theresa Madsen, 67, of San Antonio, were taken to Hill Country Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Seelig and his passengers, Peggy Seelig, 87, of Buchanan, and Larry Seelig, 77, of Friendswood, were uninjured in the crash.
Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
