Carlos Gonzalez Killed in Houston Crash on Katy Freeway

Houston, Texas (September 2, 2019) – One person was killed Saturday evening in a traffic collision in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. August 31, in the 21900 block of the Katy Freeway.

Police said Lucero Gonzalez, 18, was driving a 1996 tan Nissan Pathfinder at a high rate of speed and was weaving in and out of traffic on the freeway. A gray SUV was traveling in front of the Nissan. The Nissan then made an unsafe lane change at the same time as the SUV. The Nissan driver drove into the inside shoulder, in an attempt to avoid the crash, but overcorrected and lost control, going through the eastbound lanes.

The Nissan then struck a Toyota Rav4. The Nissan kept going through the eastbound lanes and it hit a concrete barrier before rolling on its right side.

The impact ejected Carlos and was airlifted to Memorial Hermann where he later died.

The police are investigating the crash
