Cesar Israel Trevino Killed in Duval County Crash on U.S. Highway 59 near Freer
Duval County, Texas (April 27, 2019) – A man was killed, and two other people were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash Thursday night in Duval County, according to the deputies.
The fatal crash happened just before 7:00 p.m. April 25, on US Highway 59.
DPS said a 2020 Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer was heading southwest on the highway when it stopped for a flagman in a construction zone. A 2015 Ford Explorer was parked behind the semi-trailer when the driver of a 2018 Ford F-250 failed to control the speed of the vehicle and rear-ended the Ford Explorer.
The Ford Explorer driver, Cesar Israel Trevino, 42, of Laredo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi-trailer driver was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi with serious injuries. The Ford F-250 driver was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital in Alice with serious injuries.
The DPS is investigating the crash.
