Clinton Andrews Killed and Juan Gonzalez Injured in Chapel Hill Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 64

Chapel Hill, Texas (January 16, 2022) – One person was killed and three others were injured Friday evening in a head-on collision, 15 miles northwest of Chapel Hill, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 5:55 p.m., January 14, on State Highway 64.

DPS said Juan Gabriel Gonzalez, 46, of Troup, was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup-pulling trailer northwest on the highway while Clinton J. Andrews, 39, was driving a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder southeast in the eastbound lane.

Andrews failed to drive in a single lane, drifted into the westbound lane, and collided head-on with the Dodge Ram. 

Andrews was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Gonzalez and two girls, ages 13 and 14, who were passengers in the Nissan Pathfinder were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The girls were listed in critical condition.

Gonzalez was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
