Domingo Rodriguez and Mateo Lopez Killed in Edinburg Two-Vehicle on FM 2812 and Kenyon Road

Edinburg, Texas (July 3, 2023) – Two people were killed Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash east of Edinburg, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:20 p.m., July 2, at the intersection of FM 2812 and Kenyon Road.

DPS said a brown Chevrolet Cobalt, occupied by two men, was traveling southbound on Kenyon Road while a brown Chevrolet Suburban, occupied by a female driver and five passengers, was traveling eastbound on FM 2812. The vehicles then collided at the intersection.

The Cobalt driver, 41-year-old Domingo Rodriguez of Edinburg, and his passenger, Mateo Guzman Lopez, also of Edinburg, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Suburban driver and passengers were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The DPS troopers are investigating the crash.
