Elijah Auld and Kinzy Jones Killed, Kailey R. Wildt Injured in Upshur County Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 155 at Bluebell Road

Upshur County, Texas (November 9, 2023) – Two people were killed and another was injured Monday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Upshur County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 11:00 a.m., November 6, at the intersection of Highway 155 Bluebell Road.

DPS said Jeffery N. Mitchell, 59, of DeKalb, Texas, was driving a tractor-trailer rig northbound on Highway 155 while 20-year-old Elijah A. Auld, of Gilmer, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala northbound in front of the big rig.

The Impala was slowing to make a left turn onto Bluebell Road and was yielding to an oncoming vehicle when it was rear-ended by the big rig. The force of the impact pushed the Impala into a southbound 2016 Honda Civic driven by 37-year-old Kailey R. Wildt, of Gilmer.

Auld and 21-year-old Kinzy Jones, of Gilmer, who was a passenger in the Impala, were pronounced dead at the scene. They were both wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Wildt was taken to UT Health in Tyler for treatment. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Mitchell was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
