Eric Fierro Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on US 60 near Friona

Eric Fierro Killed in Friona Two-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 60

Friona, Texas (August 26, 2022) – According to the Texas DPS, a man was killed early Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Friona.

The fatal crash happened around 12:40 a.m., August 25, on US 60.

DPS said a Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, driven by 60-year-old Sergio Acosta-Rocha, of Perryton, was traveling westbound while a 2016 Jeep Cherokee was also traveling westbound behind the truck tractor.

The truck tractor slowed to enter the turning lane and was rear-ended by the Jeep.

The Jeep driver, 34-year-old Eric Fierro, Jr., of Bovina, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Acosta-Rocha was uninjured in the crash.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
