Ezequiel Quintanilla Killed in Houston Hit-and-Run on Fuqua Street; Gregory Smith Wanted

Houston, Texas (March 6, 2022) – A Houston musician was killed and his friend was injured in a hit-and-run crash in January in southeast Houston, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 2:00 a.m., on January 31, on Fuqua Street.

Authorities said 32-year-old Ezequiel Quintanilla, a well-known accordion player, and a friend were walking in the parking lot after watching a friend’s band at El Buho bar when they were struck by a vehicle driven by Gregory Dewayne Smith, 30.

Quintanilla was pronounced dead at the scene. The friend sustained injuries in the crash.

Smith fled the scene after the accident. He had been drinking at the bar before the accident. He is wanted by the authorities and has been charged with failure to stop and render aid involving death.

The police are investigating the crash.
