James Levasseur Killed in Lynn County Two-Vehicle Crash on US-87 

Lynn County, Texas (June 22, 2021) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night in Lynn County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 10:30 p.m., June 20, on U.S. 87, three miles south of Tahoka.

DPS said a truck tractor towing a semi-tractor trailer was parked on the shoulder of the highway after breaking down. A Dodge Ram drifted right onto the improved shoulder and crashed into the side of the truck tractor semi-trailer.

The Dodge came to rest upright, facing southbound in the grass median of U.S. 87. The truck tractor semi-trailer remained in place, upright and still attached, and was facing southbound on the improved shoulder of the highway.

The Dodge driver, James Dean Levasseur, 58 of Williston, North Dakota, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were provided.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
