Jaykob Dodd Killed, Sabino Santoy and Maria Santoy Injured in Hawkins Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 14

Hawkins, Texas (June 6, 2023) – A 16-year-old boy was killed on Saturday in a head-on collision near Hawkins, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on June 3, on FM 14.

DPS said Jaykob A. Dodd, 16, of Hawkins, was driving southbound on the highway when he drifted into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a northbound truck.

Dodd was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was a Hawkins ISD student.

The truck driver, Sabino Santoy, 65, of Ore City, was taken to the hospital with incapacitating injuries. The passenger, Maria Santoy, 63, of Ore City, was also taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. They were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
