Joan Cooper Dies in Car Crash on Hwy 71 in SE Austin

Joan Cooper Killed in SE Austin Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 71

Austin, Texas – The woman who was injured on December 17 in a two-vehicle crash in southeast Austin has died, according to the police.

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m., on East Highway 71 near SH 130.

Police said Joan M. Cooper, 76, was driving a sedan westbound when, for unknown reasons, she turned left in front of a pickup truck that was traveling next to her. The sedan was then struck on the driver’s side by the truck.

Cooper was taken to the hospital where she died on January 7.

The police are investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111.
