Jose Pena Garcia Killed in Smith County Construction Accident on Interstate 20 East
Smith County, Texas (May 16, 2019) – One person was killed Wednesday morning in a construction accident in Smith County, a local news source reported.
The accident occurred at about 8:45 a.m. May 15, in the 13628 block of Interstate 20 East.
As per the report, Jose Pena Garcia, 48, was working with a concrete pump truck, and was pouring concrete at the hose end of the boom when a shift in weight caused the machine to be imbalanced and the boom hit him in the head, knocking him to the ground.
Garcia was declared dead at the scene.
An investigation is underway.
